Patrick Rondat & JMJ

Greece 19/20 June 2001

It is now more than 10 years since the first meeting of Patrick and Jean-Michel.
Patrick Rondat

It was a meeting at the concert of Extreme in Paris, that led to the collaboration of Patrick on the Chronolgy album and subsequent Tour of Europe in 1993/4, including 1 show in Hong Kong. Although Patrick did not work extensively on the album his amazing sound and skilful guitar playing brought a complete new dimension to the ' live ' shows of Jean Michel.

Herodus Attikus Odeum - ATHENS
herodion

The Theatre of Herodus Atticus is the youngest structure on the South side of the Acropolis. Built between AD 161 & 174 by the Roman consul Herodus Atticus of Marathon in memory of his wife, Regilla.
The theatre is Roman rather than Greek in essence. Unlike traditional Greek theatres which were circular or almost circular, the odeon is exactly semi-circular. The Theatre of Herodus Atticus is 40m in diameter and was sheltered by a cedar roof for musical (both vocal and instrumental) performances. The 32 steeply raked rows of seating were hollowed out of the rocks to provide seating for 5000 people.
The theatre is recently restored with new marble seating and continues to be used as a performing arts venue for modern Athenians. Every summer during the Athens Festival, concerts, ballet performances and operas attracts a huge number of audiences.

Jean-Michel will stage a show as part of the Athens Festival. Patrick has been asked by Jean-Michel to work on this project.
The show should consist of both 'new' and 'old' sounds of JMJ - probably divided into two parts.
UNESCO will benefit from the proceeds and both shows are 'ticket only'.

The Theatre holds a maximum of 5,000 people. Many Hotels close to the site are already fully booked.
The show titled 'aKropolis' starts at 21h00 and will last for 2 hours. The music will be 100% JMJ except of course for the incredible 'Vivaldi' of Patrick - expect some good surprises for this!
Musicians on stage - JMJ, Patrick Rondat F.Rimbert, C.Papendieck, L.Faucheux.A Greek choir and some dancers. will be on stage for some tracks.- I guess that gives some indication of the tracks that will be played.
