Patrick Rondat G3 1998 - various
Patrick Rondat G3 1998

Patrick's fans travelled from all over the world to see and hear him

I live in the USA and I had the opportunity to visit France for a week so I planned my visit around the G3 concerts in Lille and Paris
I was so glad I did because I finally had the opportunity to see Patrick Rondat perform live.
I have been a fan of Patrick's for a year and have most of his cds. I was looking forward to seeing him perform these great compositions on stage.
Both concerts were great. From the opener to the close of Barbarians at the Gates, I was overwhelmed by Patrick's incredible ability to play such complicated pieces with ease. It was stunning.
My favorite track? Shattered Chains - the highlight for me both nights.
I also enjoyed Patrice's Tryon Avenue which is one of the best bass compositions I have ever heard.
The concerts showed how well the band worked together as a team. They seemed to read each others minds.
It would have been nice to hear a drum solo from Frank or a keyboard solo from Phil but the time the band was on stage was so short that did not happen.
Patrick is one of the best guitarists there is and he really sounded great jamming with Michael Schenker, Uli Jon Roth and Joe Satriani at the end of the gigs. I wish the jam was not so short because it was really great both nights.
I hope one day that Patrick can play in the States near where I live but given the opportunity I would fly over to see him in Europe again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Patrick and the band for being so cool.

Rarely do solo guitar and band play in such harmony, comments were made regarding the close working relationship between all band members, this was reflected in the high standard of performance.
Patrick was very relaxed and confident.
Patrick's playlist was strong and very 'hard', including a new heavier sounding version of Amphibia pt 4, re-worked for live performance, Shattered Chains and Vivaldi, also from the Amphibia album.
The inclusion of 'Tryon Avenue', albeit a shortened version of this song composed and performed by Patrice Guers, was greeted with tremendous applause by the fans!
'Barbarians at the Gates' from Patrick's second album 'Rape of the Earth', brought the set to a close, played over some dynamic lighting effects, with skill, speed, precision and passion!
