With his new album Patrick continues his quest to maintain a personal identity, and produces a very much more progressive album.

This is not and was never intended to be a concept album in the way of Amphibia and to a degree Rape of the Earth.

It is a collection of individual songs with the exception of Duality. Patrick has been very experimental in the way he treated the 'sound' and recorded the album.

On the Edge contains a melange of many different musical 'genres' and colours.

Guest artists - Michel Petrucciani (sadly no longer here) Didier Lockwood and Tommy Aldridge. The album consists of completely new songs, with the exception of 'Burn Out' presented here as an acoustic song.

10 years into his solo career, Patrick is ready to make some changes and expand his horizons. It is very easy to become bored - and boring - doing the same thing all of the time and Patrick is determined to avoid this happening.

Patrick has had offers during his career from other bands, and until this time did not feel it was the right thing to do.

Contact with Ian Parry - world famous heavy metal/rock vocalist with some well known bands including Dutch sympho-metal band Elegy - gave Patrick the opportunity he was looking for, and work began on the Consortium Project Album.

ELEGY - Forbidden Fruit - 18th September 2000

Released in Europe (except France) on Modern Music/Noise Records

ELEGY began writing their new album and it was unsure whether guitarist Henk van der Laars would continue with the band. He felt he needed to spend more time with his young family and pursue other spheres of his career.

Some time before the recording of the album, despite working very hard and writing 4 songs - Henk made his decision to quit the band and Patrick was invited to join.

Patrick had already written some songs for the album and had been scheduled to play on some tracks.

The final album contains 3 songs composed by Patrick (vocals by Ian) - and Patrick plays guitar on the entire album except for some bonus tracks found only on the digipack.

Martin Helmantel (bass)
Ian Parry (vocals)
Dirk Bruinenburg (drums)
Patrick Rondat (guitars)
